Both services truly brought out the meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, who provided HOPE for mankind. In this day and age, I find that for many, Christmas has lost its true meaning. Christmas is certainly a lovely time to get together with your family and exchange presents, but honestly, it's meaning is so much more than just that. It is my belief that unlike any other infant, Jesus was not created by a human father and mother, rather he was created by God. He is God. He is the son of God. God chose to come to earth in the flesh. It is amazing to me that He chose to come to earth, not as a powerful king or superhero, but as a baby, who is totally and completely dependent on others for his care. The birth of Christ should be an every day celebration in our daily lives, not just once a year, to emphasize the rebirth of hope. God sent His son to earth out of hope and love for all people of a dying world. Much of today's society is so consumed with things in their every day lives that they fail to remember that we are here because of the love that God gave to us, by sacrificing His only son so that we may be forgiven!

On Christmas Day, we celebrated Jesus' birthday by watching Miss Caroline open her gifts. Of course, Matt and I got each other gifts, but I find it to be so much more fun to see the excitement in Caroline face as she opens her gifts. This year we, along with my parents, got her a Pottery Barn Kids Pink Retro Kitchen. It includes a refrigerator, stove and sink. We put it together on Christmas Eve and realized after going through all the boxes that Pottery Barn Kids failed to include the faucet for the sink. I was a little annoyed, but of course, they will send us one. We had the kitchen set up in the dining room for Caroline to see when she came down the stairs Christmas morning. She was so excited to see it and LOVES it!
In addition to Caroline's kitchen, we got her a bunch of wooden foods and pots and pans. She hasn't stopped cooking! It's too cute!
After opening presents and eating together as a family we got ready and went over to my parents to celebrate. We had yet another breakfast and opened more presents. Not that Caroline wasn't fun last year at Christmas time, but this year was totally different. She LOVES to open up gifts and enjoys showing them to everyone!
She got a stuffed "blob," which is one of the mascots of Xavier University, my parents graduate school alma mater. I am pretty sure next to her kitchen set, her blob is a favorite. She even calls him blob (well it sort of sounds like bob...)! A month or so ago my aunt and uncle took her to a Xavier basketball game and she got to see the "real" blob, which is truly just a big blue blob with eyes, nose and a smile. Too cute! Caroline also got a toy piano from my parents. It's adorable. It's a Shoenhut toy piano, which looks like a real piano, but miniature. She loves this as well. She pretty much just pounds on it. Hopefully she will take after her Papa (my dad) when it comes to music, who has natural talent. As most of you know I played the cello for years, but was pretty terrible! :)

We stayed at my parents most of the day and into the evening. My extended family and Matt's family came later in the day. We had dinner and opened more presents. Then we played Catch Phrase, which was so much fun and very LOUD. Poor Caroline was sound asleep and we accidentally woke her up because we were so loud!
We certainly had a fun-filled Christmas and can only imagine what next year will be like with Caroline. She gets more fun each and every day!
